Rules – Leisure Centre

Rules Overview

The attacking team is the home team, the Goalkeeper is the away team.

One of the attackers flicks or chips the ball from the kick off spot to his team mate, and the game is in play.

The aim of the game is for the attackers to keep the ball in the court, until an airborne attempt at goal is made (a volley).

If the volleyed attempt at goal is missed, or saved by the Goalkeeper, then the Goalkeeper’s team is awarded a goal.

If the attempt at goal is scored, the attackers are awarded a goal.

First team to 5 goals wins the game!

NO REBOUNDS WHEN THE GOALKEEPER SAVES OR OFF THE WOODWORK!

4.The attackers can use any part of the body except the hands and arms. Handball will result in a goal for the Goalkeepers team, and the ball is replaced on the kick off spot.

6.The Goalkeeper must stay in the area.

7.The attackers must not go in the Goalkeepers area.

7.i. If a goal scored by an attacker sees him land inside the Goalkeepers area, that is allowed, but he must not touch the ball OR CHALLENGE inside the area, or the Goalkeeper is awarded the goal.

NO REBOUNDS!

There are no rebounds allowed after an attempt on goal is made by an attacker, either off the Goalkeeper, the woodwork, or the wall behind the goal.

FIELD OF PLAY!

The players and the ball must stay in the field of play as defined by the borders.

If either the ball or the player go out of the field of play, a goal is awarded to the Goalkeeper.

KITS!

A matching kit must be worn by the two players in a team.

It can be a plain white T shirt, white socks and white shorts, a proper football kit, or even fancy dress, as long as it matches!

THE SPIRIT OF THE GAME!

All the players should end the game with a handshake.

SCOREBOARD

It is the responsibility of the attacking team to update the score on the scoreboard, before the next kick off.

If the match is won by the Goalkeepers team, the attackers are spared having to put the 5th goal on the scoreboard signifying the win, and the Goalkeeper can put that on after the handshake.

GOAL LINE TECHNOLOGY

Unfortunately we don’t have it yet!

If there is a realistic dispute on whether the ball crossed the line, in the spirit of the game the attackers shall take the kick off again.

RESERVES

If players are unavailable for fixtures, reserves can be sent, provided their details have been registered with us. Opponents are awarded a win if a team doesn’t field any players for a match(s).
